Lilly -

While it's not a good thing to have W2 information floating around somewhere, the only thing your friend can do is to request another copy of a W2 from her employer.

She should keep a close eye on her credit report to ensure that someone isn't using this information to steal her identity - I'd suggest going to www.annualcreditreport.com and request reports from the three agencies.

Hi Jim..i have a friend of mine that she only received part of her w2 in the mail...what should she do. Only half of it was in the envelope. The US postal apologized that the other part of her w2 was damaged. She found it suspicious that it was the perfect half part was ripped. Those precut lines that can be ripped easily. Wouldnt the damaged part of the w2 be sent to her as well...even though it was damaged? she is afraid now that someone else has that part..which all her info..includes her social security number and address is on there. What should she do? thank you...any suggestions will help. Thanks
