Hi janet

On all retirement accounts you name a beneficiary...the person that gets the account should you die. If you name your daughter, that is where the account would goes. It is that easy when you are single.

If you get married and wished to change an account to your daughter as beneficiary it may require your husbands permission depending on State law.

Talk to the HR person at your company and check your current beneficiary. It may all ready be your daughter.

Good luck.

Good Afternnon Michael,

When reviewing my 401 K benefits and the requirements; I have a question Im hoping you can answer. I am 45 years old and I am considering getting remarried, however; I want to make sure that my daughter and my grandson are taken care of should anything happen to me. My life insurance of course would be left to my future husband to handle everything required for death/funeral arrangements. I would like my pension and my 401k to be left to my daughter, Is that a possibility..can I do that? if so what steps do I need to take to make sure my these wishes are carried out?

Thank You
Sincerely
Janet Clark
